WHO WE ARE

SCOTT DANIELS

Scott Daniels  is a proud member of Mistawasis Nêhiyawak First Nation – where he grew up with his parents, and 5 siblings. Before becoming a Major Junior A hockey player, where he played in the Western Hockey League with the Kamloops Blazers and the New Westminster Bruins and the Regina Pats, Scott attended Athol Murray College of Notre Dame where he went to school and played ice hockey. In his adult life, Scott played in the NHL for over 10 years with teams including the Springfield Indians/Falcons, Hartford Whalers, Philadelphia Flyers & New Jersey Devils. Scott is also a former scout for the NHL Central Scouting Bureau and has coached at various levels from mites to the Junior League.

Currently, Scott is family advisor to many aspiring youth hockey players and also runs private skill sessions for youth of all ages, genders and abilities. In the summer, Scott runs the Daniels Hockey, where he passes along his love for the game, as well as the valuable life lessons that can be learned within the sport. Scott spends a lot of his time traveling across the United States and Canada giving talks to Indigenous youth on dealing with adversity, goal setting, and the opportunities that can be given to you through hard work. 

SYDNEY DANIELS

Sydney Daniels is a proud member of Mistawasis Nêhiyawak First Nation. Sydney completed a four-year collegiate ice hockey career at Harvard University where she obtained many accolades including ECAC Hockey All-Academic selection, Multiple ECAC Player of the Month, All-ECAC Hockey Team, All-Ivy League Team. Most importantly, Sydney was selected to captain the team her senior year. Sydney has also participated in multiple tournaments as a member of Team USA- bringing home both a silver and gold medal in IIHF World Championships at both the u-18 and u-22 level. After her collegiate career,  Sydney was drafted 3rd overall in the NWHL to the New York Riveters. She played her first Professional Ice Hockey season with the Boston Pride of NWHL. Next, Sydney spent 4 seasons as a Division 1 Assistant Coach for Harvard University from 2018-2022. As a Coach, she helped the team in winning the Ivy League, the ECAC regular season, and the Beanpot Championship. Most recently, Sydney was hired by the Winnipeg Jets as a member of the NHL scouting staff, with a specific focus on recruiting within the NCAA. She is the first female from Treaty 6 Territory to be an operations staff of an NHL team.
